How to get your website online

Getting your website online is just as easy sending an email. But before you can do that you must sign up with a host either free or paid. Then you can choose to either submit your website through a FTP or upload to the hosting page. Free web hosting provider such as http://www.tripod.com offers FTP submitting service which is faster and easier and also uploading service. Whereas the CJB' does not offer FTP submitting but they only offer uploading service which users must upload their webpage one by one.

By using FTP service you can either use program such as Macromedia Dreamweaver or Microsoft Frontpage to submit the files automatically. There are some configurations that have to be made before you can submit you files, for example you must acquire the FTP address for your account and which location will the files be after the uploads.

By using the uploading service you have to submit the files one by one without loosing one. The service can be fast but it depends on how fast your connection is. The disadvantage of this service is that you cannot have the freedom to alter the pages. To do that you might have to reupload and overwrite the files which sometimes can lead to errors.

Some web hosting company does not offer folder for the users such as
http://www.cjb.net which only allow user to use one location only. It needs organizations in order to make it function as well as the foldered ones. This kind of service ussualy does not allow users to use format such as ASP,PHP and so on. It only allows html with limited features.

After you got you website online you will have a URL but sometimes it can be too long to remember. The solution is you can see a free URL forwarding company in order to get a shorter and rememberable name. But if you are hosting on a paid server ussualy the address is short.

The next thing you can do after getting you website online is to registering a domain for your website with will put WWW onto your address. Getting a domain gives you more freedoms and more subdomains for your website. But you must pay for the domain which will cost you as low as $5 per year depending on the company.
